Why creating this website?

While browsing the Internet, we found a lot of information on Odonata. Two major websites are useful portals: one for Europe (http://fly.to/dragonflies) and a second for USA (www.dragonflies.org).

But for Asia and African species, not many websites have been established. So we try to fill this gap. We also would like to offer the possibility forget people sharing the same interests to get to know each others (join our mailing list).

With the help of Keith D. Wilson (Asia) and and Klaas-Douwe "KD" B. Dijkstra (Africa), two "sister websites" have been set up:

To meet our objectives, we need your support. Have a look further down.

What do you find on Africa-Dragonfly?

  1. A database of pictures taken in Africa. The identification of the subject is given without guaranty as, often, a photo is not sufficient to establish the species. Discussion is open!
  2. A species list which allow you to query by taxonomic names, geographical areas...
  3. Books and references (URLs) are listed.
